Screening of In Our Time
On September 20, starting at 17:00, as part of the Taiwan Film Weekend, we will screen In Our Time (1982), directed by Tao Te-chen, Edward Yang, Ko I-chen, and Chang Yi.
In Our Time (1982) is an anthology film bringing together four stories by four young Taiwanese directors: Tao Te-chen, Edward Yang, Ko I-chen, and Chang Yi. Together, the stories trace the transformation of Taiwanese society from the 1950s to the 1980s. Each segment focuses on a different stage of life, from childhood and adolescence to youth and adulthood, turning the film into a collective portrait of a generation coming of age.
In Our Time became a landmark work in the emergence of New Taiwan Cinema, a movement that brought everyday life, collective memory, and ordinary experiences to the screen, in contrast to the more stylized and melodramatic narratives of earlier Taiwanese cinema.
All screenings are free of charge!
